'Object variable or with block variable not set' error during bill of materials

First thing to check is if you have read/write access to your C:\Idswin\ISO\VBSupport folder. If that is fine, type PURGE on the command line and hit enter. This brings up a purge dialog box. Make sure to have the Purge Nested Items option checked; and then click Purge All. If a dialog box comes up asking if you want to purge an item, click Yes To All. Then try to run the bill of materials again.

Changing dimension text orientation

On the ISO2 tab in FlexTABS, there are three options to change the orientation of text in IDS-ISO. Clicking on CHG TO ISOL, CHG TO GOOD, and CHG TO ISOR all prompt you to select the text you wish to change. It will then swap the orientation as desired.

Error during installation ZCHxx.tmp

This is always an access problem with either the folder being installed to; or the System32 folder. Either perform the install as administrator, or grant user access rights to the required folders.

Snapunit error when inserting fitting

Set object snap to 0. This can be done by typing OSMODE on the command line, hitting enter, and then setting it to 0. After that, rerun the fitting insertion.

Put all bill of material lines on same layer

DpBomAllShop is a variable that can be set to put all bill of material lines on the same layer:

;;;Write all BOM entries to the SHOP layer. No FIELD MATERIAL block placed.
(setq DpBomAllShop nil) ;nil = Use SHOP and FIELD layers for BOM
;t = Use only SHOP layer for BOM
MSDART32.DLL and MSJRO.DLL have problems during installs

Run the VBSupport Install for Windows XP from the 3.63d CD; located in the FlexCAD Updates section of the main install (D:\363Install.exe).

Bill of materials isn't inserting in desired location

DPMPTST stores the value of the first bill of materials line item. Adjust the x and y coordinates accordingly for DPMPTST in the C:\Idswin\ISO\IDSIINFO.LSP file:

;;;The variable 'DPMPTST' controls the starting location of the iso B.O.M.
;;;It represents the upper left corner above the first B.O.M. entry
;;;in x,y coordinates and may be changed to fit your particular title block.
(setq DPMPTST '(10.25 10.1075)) ;isometric title block

DPMPTST can be set by doing an ID and an Int of on the upper left start point of the BOM border.

Changing a bill of material item between shop and field

On the ISO2 tab in FlexTABS, select CHG. LOCATION (SHOP/FIELD) to swap items accordingly.

Drawing existing items to not be counted on the bill of materials

On the ISO2 tab in FlexTABS, select B.O.M. (ON/OFF) accordingly; OFF draws everything as existing, and ON will draw everything as new.

Copying fittings in IDS-ISO

Copying fittings is fine in most cases, however, pipe segments cannot be copied before running 'calculate pipe lengths'. This will make an error during this routine. Any copied data nodes will be counted in the bill of materials.

Using multiple specs in one drawing

Multiple specs can be used in one drawing as long as the specs all reside in the same folder.

Recalculating pipe length

On the ISO2 tab in FlexTABS, select RE-CALC PIPE to calculate the length of one segment of pipe. It will prompt you to select the pipe data-node and then to enter in the new length.

Adding single lines to bill of materials

On the ISO1C tab in FlexTABS, the right-hand section is devoted to different item types that can be inserted into the bill of materials.

Data block is showing spec name instead of size

That data block is corrupt. The 'data' block needs to be redefined in the drawing.

Changing text height of dimensions

TXTSIZ stores the value of the dimensioning text height:

;;;Global text size for isometric dimensioning
(setq TXTSIZ 0.0937)
'No fittings in drawing' error during bill of materials

This error occurs on older versions of IDS-ISO when you have multiple sessions of AutoCAD open. Close all AutoCAD sessions except for the current IDS-ISO session of AutoCAD; and then rerun the bill of materials.

During startup, AutoCAD has an unhandled exception

Many times, this issue is resolved by erasing the ISO_PRTL.MNS, ISO_PRTL.MNR, ISO_PRTL.MNC files; located in the C:\Idswin\Iso folder.

Snap unit keeps getting reset after IDS-ISO commands.

Comment out the following two lines in the C:\Idswin\ISO\IDSIINFO.LSP file by adding a semi-colon (;) in front of each line:

(setq IDSSNAPUNIT "0.10825318,0.03125" IDSGRIDUNIT "0.86602540,0.25")

Testimonials

Look at what our customers have to say about PI Integrated and FlexCAD:

We utilize it on a daily basis on several of our projects. The program is easy to learn and use, therefore making training minimal. In just a few days a new user can be up to speed with PI Integrated’s software. That means the employee can be productive in a short amount of time. If a person has some practical experience and some basic CAD experience, he can come in and contribute very quickly.”

Ronnie Theriot,
Richard Design Services

We chose the FlexCAD products because they’re cost effective and simple to use. All the applications work together. We felt like we could speed up production, which we did. Also, we went to a new operating system at our plant, and it was less costly to buy the FlexCAD software than to upgrade what we were already using. Whenever the designers have questions, they can get the help they need directly from PI Integrated’s developers, rather than having to pass-through an intermediary. They work well with us. “If FlexCAD meets our needs, it will meet the needs of others as well.”

Brandon David,
Sasol North America

It’s very simple, user-friendly, and all the operators like it. When a new person comes in and they call up the program, I don’t have to spend a lot of time teaching them. In a day or two, they can be drawing ISOs and other things with no problems.”

Ron Sasser (retired),
Huntsman

PI Integrated delivers highly usable off-the-shelf products for plant design – they’ve worked closely with us in tailoring those products to our requirements including a new project interface that stores drawings in project folders and allows our project managers and engineers to view designs in progress with free Autodesk downloadable viewers.”

Chris Westmoreland,
Commonwealth
